![]() The other questionable versions are 1.0.5 and 1.0.6, maybe 1.0.6 for M/D and 1.0.5 for Tablet? On my Bay Trail based tablet there is a problem with the battery implementation, this seems pretty common on earlier Z3735D revisions. ![]() ![]() ![]() But before starting over and give that a try I must understand one thing about the Z-Wave integration with OZW. I think I will try to handle this with a template binary sensor mentioned here. The bug is fixed in OZW 1.6 which is used by the ozw (beta) integration, and it also provides binary sensors for you, no templates required. Otherwise, there is no fix aside from possibly compiling your own version of OZW 1.4. There are plenty of discussions in this community that discuss it. You’ll just need to download the config files to your HA /config directory somewhere and use the config_path setting. Here’s an example that disables Gets for the notification command class. It’s not too difficult to manage your own XML files. ![]() If you want, you could completely disable Gets for this device. It was good enough for me, maybe not for you. Of course, if your door doesn’t open often, that’s not great. I use the template in the linked example, so a value of 254 would appear as closed. Most people use template binary sensors for these notifications. It’s only a problem after startup, so once the sensor is triggered and sends a new notification it will update. I think there’s a bug in the Z-wave SDK code.Īeotec is correct and there is a bug in OZW 1.4 where it sets the wrong notification type for a Notification Get. Many door sensors report having a binary sensor, but most don’t support it as Aeotec has said. I cannot see a way for me to fix this issue other than to use the developer tab and change the state after every restart? So the question is, are the correct and HA is return 254 as a default? ![]() This is my guess as to why value 254 is being sent as I’ve seen this similar issue on our Water Sensor 6. Only events 0x06 and 0x07 exist in this unit which i have noted in the past that the request for the wrong notification type happens with some of our other devices. If a notification type does not exist, typically the error is returned as value 254. I suspect that HA is requesting the wrong Notification Type when issuing a NOTIFICATION GET. It is reserved for the tilt sensor of the device. Unfortunately Binary Sensor is not supported for the door window sensor in this case so it won’t be able to be used with the Door Window Sensor 7. I reached out to AEOTEC about my issues with the ZW008 Door/Window Sensor 7. ![]() ![]() What we like about the GlocalMe G4 Pro 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot is its flexibility and streamlined design - it's the ticket for travelers who are hopping across continents. What’s a portable WiFi Hotspot? And how can it help my business stay connected? ![]() ![]() If that works okay at the connection to the charge controller, I wonder why the pin terminal just an inch or so away needs an industrial-quality crimp job. The wire bundle is just jammed into a square hole, and a simple Phillips-head screw inside the controller gets turned, which narrows the metal contacts inside (flat metal surfaces) and clamps down on the bundle. If the binding of the pin-terminal to the wire bundle is that critical, it makes me wonder about where the bundle plugs into the charge controller. Too tight, you strip threads or crush/cut strands and again, overheat. Too loose and the wires loosen and overheat from poor contact. NO-OX-ID "A-Special" is the stuff you melt and dip the wire into before torque. The insulated splice blocks are the easiest way, with a dab of no-ox in the joint to protect the wires I've not used it for crimping, only have used the copper for crimping copper wire, you don't mix metals. Safest is the No-Oxid, warm the tub till it's liquid and dip the stripped wire in, then torque it down in the terminal. This is hands on learning, too little and it's useless, too much and it runs out and causes a short in 2 years. But carbon is this years buzzword, so it must be good. The Carbon I have no experience with and the numbers show it's not as conductive as silver or copper. I used that till it ran out, I now have the copper from McMaster Carr. Silver is used at power plants and substations to grease the double bolt threads and connection interfaces. There are several kinds of electrical grease, some are insulative, some are conductive. The wire will break before it pulls out of the shell. I also spent 35 years in aerospace using $2,000 crimpers that were calibrated every 6 months and I know what a good crimp is.Ī good crimp cold welds the wires to the shell, and leaves an uncrimped portion of the shell as a strain relief for the wire. With any approach, you need to make sure that the connection is both secure and safe from fingers, dropped tools, etc. Unfortunately, to use these, you either need a crimp tool or you need to be extremely good with improvising. The advantage of these is that they're small and cheap. For example Digikey, Allied, Newark and Mouser sell TE Connectivity / AMP 180599 pin terminals. These are crimp devices which go around the wire and have a straight pin on the end of a smaller diameter. Here's a photo of the 985-GP-03, courtesy Amazon:Īnother choice is to get "Pin Terminals". ![]() There are other Marathon products that would also work, but this is probably the simplest choice. ![]() You put the #8 wire in one end and the #10 or #12 in the other, and tighten the screws to the factory specified torque. Cassettes gave way to CDs and then CDs gave way to digital music. History is replete with products that seemed amazing for their day but turned out to be just a stopgap for something better. There’s also been the inevitable hacking of the communication protocol. Getting to the JTAG port looks pretty intense. There have been a few attempts to load alien firmware into the device, but there’s no full-blown development system. There are also some enticing pads on the PCB that appear to support a buzzer and I2C communications, but there’s no firmware for it. The only really good hardware hack for the real calculator adds a Samsung battery with a higher capacity to the machine. You’d think that the real hardware would be a prime platform for hacking, but so far that’s still on the to-do list. If you miss your old calculator, there is a define feature that lets you program like a key macro recording. You can even find some from the Internet. You can write programs on the device or if you have the HP Connectivity software (also free) you can write programs on your PC. ![]() The PC and phone versions will also connect just like a real device. For example, there is an application, HP Connectivity Kit, that lets you talk to a real calculator over the network. So this isn’t a case of someone just writing a pretend calculator, these apps act like the real calculator because it is running the same source code. It appears that these apps are not emulating the actual calculator hardware, but are ports of the calculator code. ![]() There are also “lite” versions that are free. On iOS the cost right now is $25 and on Android it is $20. They aren’t free, but they are relatively inexpensive. However, you can also get official apps for Android and iOS. It is easy to think that HP provides the free PC software so you’ll go out and buy the real calculator, and that may be part of it. Other applications include plotting, statistics, solvers, and even a spreadsheet that can hold up to 10,000 rows and 676 columns. It is also programmable using a special HP language that is sort of like Basic or Pascal. It also has an amazing number of applications including a complete symbolic math system based on xCAS/Giac. However, the HP Prime isn’t just your 1980s vintage calculator. You might wonder why you need a calculator on your computer, and perhaps you don’t. But still, it will run under Wine with no more than the usual amount of coaxing. Of course, that’s free as in no charge, not free as in open source. To start with, HP has a free app that runs on Windows or Mac that works just like the calculator. But if you can’t justify a $150 calculator, there are some cheap and even free options out there to get the experience. It is hard to call it a calculator since the latest variant has a 528 MHz ARM Cortex A7, 256 MB of RAM, and 512 MB of ROM. Today’s students are more likely to have a TI or Casio calculator, but HP is still in there with the HP Prime. The slide rule sword gave way to calculators hanging from your belt loop, and for many engineers that calculator was from HP. Well, really it was a slide rule hanging from your belt, but it sounds cooler to call it a sword. There was a time when being an engineering student meant you had a sword. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In addition to narrative twists and turns, some Flashpoint stories feature consecutive deployments in which players can’t repair or heal between missions, while others feature infiltration contracts that restrict the tonnage of deployable BattleMechs.īeyond adding over 30 hours of exciting Flashpoints to BATTLETECH, this expansion comes complete with three new ‘Mechs (including the highly anticipated Hatchetman), a challenging new mission type, and a new tropical biome for the biggest and most challenging BATTLETECH experience yet.
